US Dept of Energy seeking input on $1 billion new program to improve energy generation in rural communities

Nearly 1 in 6 Americans lives in a rural community. The Biden-Harris administration, through the Department of Energy, wants input from the public regarding the new Energy Improvements in Rural or Remote Areas (ERA) program, which will provide federal assistance to remote and rural communities with fewer than 10,000 residents. The ERA will help with:

  • Improving the cost-effectiveness of energy generation and T&D systems
  • Upgrading T&D lines
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from energy generation by rural or remote areas
  • Modernizing existing electric generation facilities or providing new ones
  • Developing micro-grids
  • Increasing energy efficiency

Let your ideas be heard! Feedback can be submitted to ERA@hq.doe.gov until November 28, 2022, at 12:00 pm EST.
