2009 Highlights
Last year was a busy year for your Association. Here are some of the highlights:
· ISPC participated in 6 Industry conferences, including: 1. NRECA Annual Conference – New Orleans, LAA 2. APPA E&O Conference – Austin, TX 3. SWESE Conference – Oklahoma City, OK 4. MEA EOC Electrical Ops. Conf. – Springfield, IL 5. CARILEC Engineer’s Conf. – Aruba, Caribbean 6. ICUEE / IP Conference and Tradeshow – Louisville, KY
· Major Website additions, including: 1. Product site addition Digger Operator’s Manual 2. 2 new ‘Safety Meeting’ powerpoint presentations, free to members 3. 2 new ‘Safety Forms’ for use in the field, free to members
· T&D PowerSkills Lineman Training Material updates progress throughout 2009, using ISPC SME’s. Addition to the T&D PowerSkills course offering of Material Handling Bucket Trucks
· ISPC selected by several Technical Colleges in 2009 to assist with developing program material for their Lineman Training curricula: 1. Moraine Park Technical College – Fond du Lac, WI 2. Chippewa Valley Technical College – Eau Claire, WI 3. Marion Technical College – Marion, OH 4. Blackhawk Technical College – Janesville, WI 5. Minnesota West Com. & Technical College – Jackson, MN 6. Gateway Community & Technical College – Florence, KY 7. Central Alabama Community College – Taladega, AL 8. Calhoun Community College – Decatur, AL 9. Dakota County Area Technical Institute – Rosemount, MN 10. Forsyth Tech Community College – Winston-Salem, NC
· ISPC facilitating efforts in 2009: “Lineman Qualifications & Training Standards”: 1. 3/12/08 – Presentation to health and safety professionals at the CARILEC conference in St. Thomas, USVI 2. 7/27/08 – Presentation to Engineering professionals at the CARILEC Engineer’s conference in Aruba, Caribbean 3. 10/5/08 – Moderated discussion at the Incident Prevention Conference in Louisville, KY 4. October – Accepted appointment to Development Committee for new CUSP Utility Safety Certification Program
· ISPC Consulting Projects in 2009 included: 1. Contractor Safety Audits (3) for a major transmission system owner in the Midwest 2. Transmission hot-stick training for contractor in Texas
· ISPC added 13 new members throughout 2009.
